Renewable Energy Discussion Luncheon in Moscow, Idaho

By Nicole Hindberg on March 21, 2019

The city of Moscow’s Chamber of Commerce is a group of people that connect the community and show them everything that Moscow, Idaho has to offer. They are a helpful tool to allow college students to become involved in the community.

As a way of connecting the Moscow Chamber of Commerce to the community, they hold a monthly luncheon to discuss various topics with the public from public transportation, any social issues of concern, and many other topics. During this one hour luncheon, the public can purchase tickets to openly speak with some of the leadership in Moscow.

This month’s luncheon was held on Wednesday, March 20, in the La Quinta hotel in Moscow. The luncheon was sponsored by Palouse Care Network.

During the luncheon, a discussion on renewable energy was held. Specifically, regarding a large power company Avista Utilities that keeps much of the city of Moscow powered. Avista Utilities is one of the largest power companies in Moscow and many in attendance were grateful that such a large power company came to the event to talk to the people of Moscow.

In order to make it even more personal, as a part of the luncheon, they always have a guest speaker. This month’s speaker was Paul Kimmel, the Regional Business and Public Affairs Manager for Avista. With him being the speaker, attendants were able to speak directly with someone who manages a power company. This sparked a lively conversation about renewable energy and the efforts that the city of Moscow has implemented to solve this problem.

During the event, the Moscow Chamber of Commerce said, “looking ahead, we will endeavor to provide affordable and reliable energy, and we will continue to be a strong partner in smart, forward-looking investments in new technologies and alternative energy.”

Next month’s Moscow Chamber of Commerce Luncheon will be April 17. The theme will be about transportation in Moscow and how to resolve the issues that Moscow has with it. The location is not determined yet, but it will be from noon to 1 p.m. The cost for attendance is $15 for Chamber of Commerce members and $17 for non-members. Lunch as always will be served by local restaurants in Moscow. The specific restaurant will be named closer to the luncheon date.

More information on registration and the Moscow Chamber of Commerce can be found by calling them at (208) 882-1800 or by emailing at membership@moscowchamber.com.
